Nenthrappazham ada | Easy banana ada without leaf

Ingredients

Ripe plantain - 2
Grated coconut - 1 cup
Wheat flour - 1 and 1/4 cup
Jaggery - 1 and 1/2 cup
Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
Salt - a pinch
Water - 1/4 cup
Ghee - 1 tbsp
Butter paper - 19cm X 16cm
1 cup = 240 ml
Preparation
--------------
In a pan melt the grated jaggery with 1/4 cup of water and strain to remove the impurities.
Remove black seeds inside the banana if you need.Then grind banana into a mixer grinder.
Then add melted jaggery into it and grind it for a moment.
Pour it into a bowl.Then add salt, ghee,cardamom powder and cumin powder then mix well.
Then add grated coconut and mix well.
Then add wheat flour little by little to form a thin pourable batter.If the batter is too thick ada will become hard.So keep a thin pourable consistency.This will make the ada so soft.


Then take a piece of butter paper and put the dough as shown in the figure.There should be some space under the dough.
Then fold both sides.
Then fold back.

Now put it back and give gentle press to get a good shape.


Then fold these 2 sides.


Place it in the steamer , the folded edges facing downwards.Steam till cooked for about 20 to 25 minutes.Cool slightly and serve.



Notes
- For more taste prepare it in a banana leaf or a bay leaf.
- Add jaggery as your taste.
